I find this behaviour (of Motif, for example) a pain in the arse. As a
part-time Unix techy support person, I have to cope with people who have
done damage by typing into the wrong window just because they happened
to jog the mouse (and thus put it over another window). At least its
CONFIGURABLE though, so I have disabled auto-topping, and have convinced
a number of other people to do likewise.
